Machiavelli, l’uomo del Rinascimento e i suoi appetites

Franco Cambi

Abstract

Machiavelli, the Renaissance man and his appetites

Florence in the Renaissance is not only the well-known center of an exceptional artistic and cultural flourishing. It is also the center of an anthropological revolution were the “man of letters” finds a new role in the life of the city and goes beyond the certainties of transcendental ideals to find a moving identity that follows the transformation of cultural, social and political contexts. A strong part of this identity are appetites, in which the mind intersects the body and the social body, recollocating the man at the crossroads of the debate. From this point of view Machiavelli can be seen as the most conspicuous example of this revolution.
