Abstract

From Boethius to Valla.
Historical-semantic variations of the concept of “person”

The concept of “person” has walked through many long seasons, and has connotated several philosophical, political and educational positions. Here I try to trace a brief summary of it, to show its Greek-Roman origin and its insertion in 4th-5th century-Christianteology, at the time of the Nicea and Calcedonia councils on Trinity.Then I reflect about the central role of Boethius in the elaboration of the concept and the objections of Valla, Erasmus and antitrinitarian haeretics in the 16th century. The many personalisms of the 20th century will be linked to this long history.

Desde Boezio a Valla. Variaciones histórico-semánticas del concepto de “persona”

El concepto de “persona” ha caminado a través de diversas largas temporadas y ha connotado posiciones filosóficas, políticas y educativas. Aquí trato de trazar un breve resumen de la misma, para demostrar su origen griego-romano y su inserción en Teología 4to 5to siglo cristiano, en el momento de los consejos de Nicea y Calcedonia en Trinidad. Entonces reflexiono sobre el papel central de Boezio en la elaboración del concepto y de las objeciones de Valla, Erasmo y heréticas anti-trinitarias en el siglo 16. Los muchos personalismos del siglo 20 estarán vinculados a esta larga historia.
