Abstract

Education and the division of labour in Émile Durkheim’s Thought

This article aims at investigating the relationship between the theory of division of labor, and the theory of education in Durkheim’sthought. An inquiry on Durkheim’s works dealing with these issues leads to emphasize both problematic elements of his thought (in particular, the definition of “talent”) and other ones that deserve reconsideration in the light of the lively disputes among hisfollowers. This problematization of Durkheim’s categories is imperative especially in the light of certain principles that have gained scientific importance among educational theorists during the last decades.

La educación y la división del trabajo en Émile Durkheim

Este artículo tiene como objetivo investigar la relación entre la teoría de la división del trabajo, y la teoría de la educación en el pensamiento de Durkheim. Una investigación sobre la obra de Durkheim se ocupan de estas cuestiones lleva a destacar dos elementos problemáticos de su pensamiento (en particular, la definición de “talento”) y otros que merecen una reconsideración a la luz de las animadas controversias entre sus seguidores. Esta problematización de las categorías de Durkheim es imprescindible sobre todo a la luz de ciertos principios que han ganado importancia cientí- fica entre los teóricos de la educación en las últimas décadas.
